Sarah Faul and Martha Frantz enjoyed homemade ice cream Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hiebert to celebrate Mrs. Hiebert's birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Frantz, Dennis and Stanley hosted a picnic supper Sunday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Abe Classen of Clearbrook, British Columbia.
Joseph Kleinsasser and Ron Hiebert spent four days sightseeing in the Denver and Colorado Springs area last week. They were house guests of the Maurice Wolverton family at Evergreen, Colo. Mrs. Wolverton is Joseph's cousin.
Mrs. Bud Kelsey, Kevin and Scott drove to Topeka on Friday to meet Mr. Kelsey. He had attended classes at the KU Wastewater and Disposal School for the week.
New residents of Hillsboro are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Patton, 916 S. Ash, formerly of Riverton.
Enrollment in the USD 410 school system is scheduled the third week in August.
Retail sales in Marion County showed a 5 percent gain during the month of June when compared with the same month a year ago.
Administrators of USD 410 received a 5.5 percent across the board pay hike following action of the board of education. The board met in executive session for about 40 minutes prior to passing the pay increase of approximately $1,000 for each administrator. The increases put administrative salaries in the $17,000 to $23,500 range. Part of the adjustment was for Richard Nikkel who will be the full-time junior high principal.
