Hillsboro firemen were called out Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to the city dump one mile north of town to put out a fire on a tractor and trailer. The fire burned six of the eight tires on the trailer and ruined the air hose and lights. Damage loss was estimated at $2,000 to the tractor and trailer.
The Tabor College administrative committee approved a new policy designed to encourage the adult community to make learning a life-long proposition. This semester a number of select courses will be offered to the public at a reduced rate ranging from $25 to $45 per credit hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Walt Westerman of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Penner of San Jose, Calif., announce the engagement of their children. Judy Lynn Smith and Dennis W. Penner. She is a graduate of Syracuse High School and Parks School of Business in Denver, Colo. He is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Tabor college.
Mrs. A.H. Dalke returned on Aug. 13 from a month visit in Salt Lake, Utah, where she visited with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Foster, and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Duerksen and Betty Bernhardt returned Saturday from a 12-day vacation which they spent in Huntsville, Ala. Betty visited with her son, Kenny, and the Duerksens visited with the Gary Duerksens.
