Officers for 1978 were elected at the Jan. 11 meeting of the Friendship Club. Elected were Kathryn Nickel, president; Elsie Plenert, vice president; and Eva Funk, secretary-treasurer. The members did individual handwork as an activity. Hostess was Mrs. William Plenert.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dalke, Esther Penner, and Susie Esau returned home Friday evening after a 13-day visit to California and various places of interest along the way.

Thomas Franz, Dan Born, and David Loewen, all from Hillsboro, were among the seven Tabor College students who completed graduation requirements at the end of the fall semester.

During the month of January, Patricia Unruh, sophomore at Hesston College in Hesston and daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth Unruh of Hillsboro, is traveling throughout the Middle East to gain firsthand information of the settings where biblical history took place.

Lynn Kessler hit the first free throw of a one-and-one situation with 1:35 left in the game to give Hillsboro a 46-45 Mid-Kansas League basketball victory over Remington Friday. The win was Hillsboro's third in a row after four MKL losses. Jim Schroeder led all scorers with 14 points.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Duerksen, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Penner, and Brian and Glen Thiessen of Hillsboro, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Guhr, helping Gary celebrate his birthday.
