Cheryl Franz, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert G. Franz of Hillsboro, was crowned Hillsboro High School Homecoming queen.

The Kiwanis fall Pancake and Sausage Feed on Sept. 24 took in approximately $1,000.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schultz called on Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Esau in Buhler Sunday evening.

Mrs. Herman Spremberg was in Kimberling City, Mo., on Saturday to attend the wedding of her granddaughter, Sheri Jost, to Randy Stovall.

Saturday guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Boothe were Edith Atkinson, Betty Stokes and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Atkinsson all of Wichita.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Heinrichs returned Friday from a vacation in Branson, Mo.

Celia Gross, USD 410 kindergarten teacher, attended the Elementary-Early Education Childhood Conference sponsored by Fort Hays State University Oct. 1.

Michael Brenneman won the nine-year-old division in the Punt, Pass and Kick competition.

The Hillsboro City Council spent $7,553 to purchase a Woodchuck Woodchipper. The council also approved $53,200 to complete improvements on West Grand.

If silence is consent, the City of Hillsboro and the governing body got a mandate to go ahead with the Marion Reservoir water supply project. Barely a handful of interested citizens were present at the council meeting for presentations by the city and representatives of the Kansas Water Resources Board and the Equus Beds Groundwater Management District.
