Hillsboro will have a new trash-packer for use by the sanitation department following action taken by the city council. The council voted to purchase the $14,805, 20-yard unit from Sheer Bros. Of Wichita.
Six Hillsboro area youths will be competing in the district Punt, Pass and Kick competition at Herington High School's Trip Field Saturday. Entrants include Corey Brunner, 8; Michael Brenneman, 9; Alex Herbel, 12; Kevin Klassen, 11; Kirk Gillett, 12; and Troy Weibert, 13.
The newest Hillsboro business building is going up at U.S. 56 and Ash. The two-story building will become the home of Tip Top Federal Credit Union.
Tabor College officials introduced three new staff members at the Tuesday noon luncheon meeting of the Hillsboro Chamber of commerce. Joel Wiebe, director of institutional advancement, introduced Don Govan, minority services coordinator; Don Brubacher, physical education instructor, soccer and women's basketball coach; and Jana Clark, women's coach and physical education instruction.
Junior high athletics drew most of the attention of the USD 410 Board of Education at its regular monthly meeting. Leland Albrecht, Richard Nickel, and Wilbur Fast were present to speak for the junior high athletic program.
The family of Ed Geis celebrated his birthday Sunday with a dinner.
