A double anniversary celebration will occur Sunday, Oct. 25, at the United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Janzen of Hillsboro will celebrate 50 years of marriage. Their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ensz, of Hillsboro will celebrate 25 years of marriage.

K.B. Bruce, publisher of the Hillsboro Star-Journal, has been elected president of the Hillsboro Development Corporation.

First National Bank of Hillsboro reached a new milestone in its financial career by topping the $20 million mark. The bank holds $20 million in assets and $13,266,000 in deposits.

Jim Schroeder enjoyed his best game of the season in leading Hillsboro to a 42-6 romp over Hesston Friday night. Schroeder hit 7 of 8 passes for four touchdowns and 186 yards and no interceptions. The Trojans had 119 yards rushing.

Four hundred teachers from the Mid-Kansas League for School Activities including the schools of Hesston, Inman, Hillsboro, Moundridge, Halstead, Remington, Peabody and Fairfield, will meet on Oct. 20 in Hesston for in-service education. Graham Down, executive director of the council For Basic Education, will be the keynote speaker.

A new all-time record enrollment has been recorded at Kansas State University of Manhattan this fall. Students from the Hillsboro area enrolled at KSU include Kathleen Bartel, Douglas Beisel, John D. Bower, Lynn Breese, Coleen Feil, Dwight Flaming, Terri Groening, Sandy Kasper, Delton Klassen, Marlo Klassen, Gerald Ollenburger, Larry Pankratz, Charles Schmidt, Randall Schroeder, Dorothy Solden, Glenn Suderman, Margot Wiebe, Eydie Klassen, Richard Winter, Karen Christiansen, Debbie Donahue, and Danny Joy.
