The Hillsboro Business and Professional Women's club distributed nine welcome baskets in Hillsboro during October. They were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bartel, Mr. and Mrs. David Koop, Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Dirks, Kathy Falkenstern, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Utting, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thiessen, Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Fadenrecht, and Deborah Ens.

Christy Friesen of Hillsboro will be among the 46 Garden City Community College vocal music students who will be performing Nov. 11 in the civil Choral Union.

Tabor College's defensive unit ranked third in the KCAC football statistics through seven games of the season. The Bluejays had allowed 237.6 yards a game, trailing Bethany, 209.5, and Southwestern, 215.

Marion County Sheriff June Jost issued a statement cautioning people in the county to beware of a telephone fraud being perpetrated in this area. The man calling says he is with the Kansas Highway Patrol and attempts to sell ad space in a law enforcement magazine.

Hillsboro High School will have representatives among the 375 students and advisers from 27 Kansas high schools expected to attend Emporia State University's 11th annual Kansas State high School Model United Nations Nov. 16. Hillsboro High School will represent the countries of Nigeria and Yemen.

Harvey Foyle, social studies instructor at Hillsboro High School, attended the sixth annual Wisconsin South Asia Conference Nov. 3 through 6.

Tabor College women's volleyball team closed its season with a pair of losses in playoff action at Henry Levitt Arena. They finished their season 24-8.
