While many farmers search desperately for ways to increase their sagging income, the Loren Funks may just "worm" their way out of the financial pinch. The Funks are adding a new dimension to livestock production in this area. They have turned instead to earthworms.

Thanksgiving Day guests of Mrs. Esther Lindteigen were Kenneth Lindteigen of Lehigh; Jeff and Angie Lindteigen of Canton; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Lindteigen and family of New Strawn. Evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ediger and David of Omaha, Neb.

Marion County farmers get $875,000 in 1977 in wheat deficiency payments. An additional $885,000 has already been paid in wheat disaster payments. Marion County farmers will receive about $1.85 million in 1977 crop deficiency payments.

Retail sales tax collections in Marion County increased by 21 percent during the month of October. The sales tax collections were up $18,456 to $102,498 in October 1977. Collections totaled $84,243 in October 1976.

Reimer Ford Motors announces the appointment of Tim Lohrenz as new service technician. Lohrenz, a Hillsboro High School graduate, attended Dodge City Community College where he completed training as a diesel mechanic.

The fourth community Christmas Dinner will be held Dec. 25 in the community room at First National Bank for anyone spending Christmas alone. Last year more than 100 people attended the dinner.
