The Barkman Honey Company of Hillsboro, after 19 years of steady growth, is moving to a new plant. The groundbreaking ceremony for a new $300,000 building for Barkman, processor and distributor of Busy Bee Honey, is set for 11:00 a.m. July 10 at the new location in Hillsboro Industrial Park.
K.B. and Marcella Bruce, publishers, announced the appointment of Kent Gaston as the new managing editor of the Hillsboro Star Journal effective July 1.
A community-wide picnic is scheduled at the Ebenfeld Church school grounds to welcome the Hmien people from Laos. Hillsboro eventually expects about 30 of the Laotians to take up residency here, but so far only the Saelee family has arrived.
