Two USD 410 school buses received more than $7,5000 in damages as a result of an early-morning collision with another vehicle five miles northwest of Hillsboro on K-15. Five students admitted to Salem Hospital have since been released, and only the driver of the second bus, Levi Prieb of Lehigh, remains hospitalized.
Thursday dinner guests of Mrs. John Prieb were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ollenburger of Oklahoma and Margaret Pauls of Parkside Homes.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Patry and Annette visited Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wegerer in Emporia Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Jost returned early from a week-long vacation in Italy. They traveled with the Shore Tire Company from Kansas City to Rome.
John Dick, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Dick of Hillsboro, received the highest award a Cub Scout can earn at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet Monday night at the First Mennonite Church.
Hillsboro's Trojans finished the regular season with a pair of Mid-Kansas League setbacks on successive evenings at Tabor gym. Inman blasted the Trojans 63-44 Thursday night, and Remington turned back Hillsboro 57-51 on Friday. The losses left Hillsboro at 6-8 in the MKL, tied for fifth place, and 9-10 on the season.
Boy Scout Troop 129 attended the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church in honor of Scout Sunday. Awards were given to the following: Paul Reimer, Tenderfoot and Second Class; Mark Dalke, Second Class; Corey Jost, First Class; John Dalke, Star Rank: Tim Walters, Todd Jost and Rick McMinn, all Life 'Ranks.
