A new administrator has been chosen for Salem Hospital and Home. John Wiebe of Marion, currently superintendent of schools for USD 408, will replace his predecessor Don Klassen who resigned his hospital position to join the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities. Wiebe will begin his role at Salem Hospital in September.

Vernon Klassen, marketing manager for Fisher Corp. In McKinney, Texas, was recently honored as McKinney's Citizen of the Year at the city's Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. Vernon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete H. Klassen of Hillsboro.

The Eastshore ice cream social was really a nice affair. Fifty-five residents gathered for the event on the Robert Manis lawn. Sue Adams baked and decorated a unique cake for the social; it was in the shape of a water tower with the word "Eastshore" on it. The next meeting will be September 20 at Cottonwood Point.
