With Jim Franz and Karl Jost capitalizing on sharp blocking, the Hillsboro Trojans broke a two-year hex and turned back the Buhler Crusaders by an 18 to 6 score at Plenert Field last Friday night.
The Matz reunion was held Sept. 20 at the Canada Band Hall. The group enjoyed a picnic dinner at noon and a short business meeting and a few musical numbers after dinner. Officers elected for the next year are Fred Matz, president, Alfred Matz, secretary, and Mrs. Anna Nuss, treasurer.
Mrs. Chester Goertz was the guest of honor at a layette shower Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Jacob Bartel.
A pink and white shower was given for Mrs. Robert Hiebert Sept. 15 in the garden at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G.S. Klassen.
Mrs. Ray Funk and Mrs. Lloyd Rempel were the honored guests at a layette shower Thursday evening at the home of the hostess Mrs. Wilmer Goering.
Students at Tabor College elected officers Sept. 15. They are senior class — Paul Hiebert, president; Harold Franz, vice president; Ruth Wiebe, secretary-treasurer; Robert Duerksen, student council; junior class — William West, president; Loyal Martin, vice-president; Naomi Lepp, secretary-treasurer; Dean Kliewer, student council; sophomore class — Floyd Bern, president; Eldon Ortman, vice president; Elsie Enns, student council; and freshmen class — Robert Klassen, president; Franklin Esau, vice president; Carol Franz, secretary-treasurer, and Donald Derksen, student council.
