The 46th annual Tabor opening festival will be held on the campus Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. The speakers for the festival will be Rev. J.B. Toews of the Reedley M.B. Church and Rev. Geo. L. Classen of the Bethel K.M.B. Church, Yaye, S.D.

A rumor that is being circulated that a new publishing corporation has started in Hillsboro and has bought out The Star is entirely false. The Star has not been sold. We have been in business in Hillsboro for 22 years and expect to stay a few more years, if health permits.

Saturday, Aug. 29, will be the annual Fair Work Day. Each business firm is expected to send out at least one man and more if possible. No stores are asked to close for the day. Workers should be on hand at 7 a.m. and report for duty at the office of the secretary, Dr. W.M. Thies.

Keith Ashcraft and Monroe Funk, both of Hillsboro, have enrolled at Kansas State University in Manhattan.

The 23rd annual Marion County Fair will open in Hillsboro Sept. 1 and run four days through Friday, Sept. 4.

According to the latest word from Dr. W.M. Thies, secretary of the Fair Association, all of the arrangements for the carnival, free acts, parades and other entertainment have been completed.

Shortage of steel continues to retard progress in construction of the Hillsboro High School annex which was originally to have been completed by Nov. 15. If steel arrives this week as promised by the steel mill, building will be completed by Jan. 20.
