Ronald Lee Jost, who is stationed aboard the USS Sphinx, ARL 24 at San Diego, Calif., arrived home Sunday to spend a 20-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Menno Buller and family. The ship returned on Dec. 19 from a tour of the Far East.

Mrs. Carl Walter was the hostess to a surprise birthday party for Mr. Walter at their home on Saturday evening. Those helping him celebrate were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Penner, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Helmer, Mr. and Mrs. Darryld Loewen, Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Ballard, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eck, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Walter of Salina.

A party honoring Miss Elva Suderman who will leave Hillsboro soon to attend Brown-Mackie School of Business in Salina, was held last Monday evening at the Anna Toews residence. Those present were Doris Just, Lois Weber, Edith Eitzen, Maysie Eitzen, Annettie Ewert, Ruth Dalke, Patsy Hanneman, Harriet Klassen and Mrs. Ann Toews.

Mr. and Mrs. Edmer G. Cornelsen announce the birth of a son born Jan. 19. They have named him Edmer Gordon.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hillsboro is happy to announce to the public the showing of Evangelist R. Allen Anderson's beautiful picture, "The Hope of the Ages" Jan. 23 at 7:45 p.m.

New officers for the Live Wire H.D.U. are Eunice Matz, president; Verna Pankratz, vice president; Irene Rempel, secretary-treasurer; and Edith Rempel, recreational leader.

Mrs. Katerina Kasdorf arrived from Paraguay on Tuesday. She is the mother of Mrs. J.W. Warkentin and Mrs. Willy Fieste. Mrs. Kasdorf saw Mrs. Fieste for the first time in eight years and all of her grandchildren for the first time.
