On her way home from school Friday afternoon, Miss Eunice Warkentin had the misfortune to badly damage the car which she was driving when she attempted to pass a truck about four miles east of Hillsboro. There were three passengers in the car, and no one was injured.
The following Hillsboro men have been called for induction on Feb. 11: Laverne Schroeder, Arlie D. Hagen, Donovan L. Janzen, Norvie L. Enns, and Larry L. Moore.
Mr. Harvey Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Schultz, left Hillsboro Saturday to spend a two-week vacation in Guatemala. He is flying most of the way.
Mr. Bob Schaeffler is spending this week in St. Louis on business.
Several cases of scarlet fever and mumps have made their appearance in the community.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Regier and son were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Funk, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Darryld Lowen and girls spent Sunday afternoon visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Delton Hadel and family in Abilene.
Misses Clara Hugos, Eva Weinneister, Gertrude Leschke, and Gertrude Hett were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ebel.
The Farmers' Equity Union will throw open its elevator doors to the public on Feb. 16. The new building gives Hillsboro one of the tallest landmarks around.
