Plans for the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Hillsboro discussed at the chamber of commerce meeting this week revealed a wide range of activities and events that could take place. Of major importance was the proposal that the celebration be spread out over several months.
Mrs. Anna Kasper celebrated her 86th birthday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave P. Kasper Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Jost and boys and Mrs. David G. Hiebert motored to Newton on Sunday where they had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hiebert.
Little Anita Duke, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Duke, opened the door of the car in which she was riding last Thursday and was thrown to the road. She was badly bruised and suffered a sprained elbow and wrist; however, she is recovering satisfactorily.
Twenty-three members of the Hillsboro Study Club responded to roll call with "A musical program you enjoy" in the home of Mrs. Verna Pankratz Monday evening. Mrs. Hildred Wiebe was co-hostess.
Dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Franz and family were Miss Edith Vogt and Miss Marilyn Schneider of Enid, Okla., who are students at Tabor College.
Mrs. Lela Jaeger and Gordon were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. P.F. Friesen.
