Next Sunday morning, March 21, after the regular service, the Zion Ev. Lutheran congregation will lay the cornerstone of its new church.
Miss Bonnie Harder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Menno Harder, and Miss JoAnne Hiebert, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J.N.C. Hiebert, were selected to represent Hillsboro at the 1954 Girls' State to be held in Lawrence.
Hillsboro High School's new football field, which is to be located on the city property next to the new park, is due for completion by the early part of next week, according to Mr. Wesley Loewen, contractor for the job.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Heinrichs and family and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Tinsley of Canton had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schroeder.
Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Friesen were dinner guests Sunday of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Harms, of Moundridge.
Dinner and supper guests of Mrs. J.R. Klaassen, Esther and Justina Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Wm.J. Prieb, Mr. and Mrs. Jona Prieb and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Klaassen and family.
Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Friesen left Sunday morning on a two-week vacation into the southwestern states.
A group of ladies from the M.B. Church surprised Mrs. P.C. Grunau on her 70th birthday on March 4, one day before her actual birth date. Each person presented Mrs. Grunau with a birthday card and many cards also contained a handkerchief. A lunch, which the ladies brought with them, was served following an hour of fellowship.
