Hillsboro High School music groups came home from the annual District music contest held at Emporia State College last Friday and Saturday with 12 ratings of I (highly superior) and six ratings of II (superior). One hundred thirty-three high school students participated.

Three of the six portraits entered by Mr. Gordon Jaeger were ranked high enough to be displayed in the special showing at the Kansas Professional Photographers Convention in Wichita.

"Silas Marner" will be presented by the senior class of Hillsboro High School on April 22 and 23. Wayne Wiens has the role of Silas Marner; Marilyn Hiebert, Eppie; and Andy Friesen, William Dane.

The Hillsboro High School girls' booster club, the Trojanettes, feted the football, basketball, and track men at their annual banquet last Friday night in the grade school gym. About 165 people attended.

A birthday party was held Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Alma Schmidt at her home. The evening was spent playing games. Those present were Mrs. August Nuss, Leota Ewy, Katherine Nickel, Elizabeth Plett, Irene Penner and the honored guest.

Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Schmidt and Mr. Dick Klaassen were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman D. Klaassen. They celebrated the birthdays of Mrs. Schmidt and Mr. Herman Klaassen.
