The Don Mize Jewelry Store in Hillsboro escaped being burglarized last Saturday night, apparently because of its heavily barred rear door and adequate lock on the front door.
More than 100 children representing 10 rural schools participated in the third annual Tabor College Play Day on Friday afternoon. Thirty-eight track and field events as well as supervised play for the youngest and a film at the end of the day constituted the day's program.
The Irvin Reimer home was the scene of a surprise birthday party for Mr. Reimer Thursday evening.

Vogt Bros. IGA announced last week that it is participating in a state wide vacation contest for girls between the ages of 10 and 15. The trip will take the girls to St. Louis for a five-day holiday with various forms of entertainment.
The Red Cross drive in Hillsboro has resulted in a collection of $727. The response to the drive has been generous, although the amount is short of the $950 goal.
