On Thursday, May 13, Hillsboro is celebrating its 75th anniversary in conjunction with the Kansas Centennial celebration, part of which is to retrace some of the old land marks of the Old Santa Fe Trail. The Santa Fe Trail caravan of approximately 20 units will arrive in Hillsboro and parade through the streets at 3:30 p.m.
Mr. Roland Reiswig wrecked his Plymouth car Saturday night on the curve two miles west and a mile north of Hillsboro on 50N when he was blinded by the lights of an approaching car and ran into the ditch and rolled the car over. Mr. Reiswig was not injured, but the car was badly damaged.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry K. Willems have received word from their son Raymond of the U.S. Navy that he is on his way to Japan again. This is his third trip to Japan.
A rating of highly superior was awarded to the girls' sextet of Hillsboro High School at the State Music Festival held April 24 at Emporia State University. Members of the sextet are Frances Dahl, Diane Schroeder, Carolee F. Balzer, LaWanda Schmidt, Jo Ann Hiebert, and Garnett Lais.
The Hillsboro High School girls' triple trio won a highly superior rating at state music festival. Members of the triple trio are Mary Suderman, Joan Seibel, Bonnie Harder, Lois Enns, Joan Hagen, Jocelyn Groethe, Barbara Funk, Caryl Friesen, and Marilyn Hiebert.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Koslowsky will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 9, in their home at 512 E. First.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder hosted a supper May 3 to celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Franklin Harms has announced that she will accept a limited number of piano students.
