Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Ashcraft announce the sale of the Hillsboro Star-Journal this week to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bruce of Marquette. The new publishers took over on Aug. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Ashcraft were publishers of the paper for more than 22 years. Mr. Bruce will become editor and publisher of the Star-Journal and Mrs. Bruce will become associate editor.

The 24th annual Marion County Fair will be held in Hillsboro Aug. 31 through Sept. 3. The Thursday parade will feature commercial, livestock, and saddle clubs and the Friday parade will feature the Youth Day parade with 4-H clubs, bands, and floats.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hein returned home Sunday morning from California. They visited the Fred Schmidts at Fresno and the Albert Heins in Monterrey Park. They made the trip by train.

Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Ballard spent several days at the George Jones Farm at El Dorado Springs, Ark. They also took several trips to the Ozarks.

Connie Jost of Marion spent Sunday with Kristin Heinrichs.

Sylvia Negley of Tampa is staying with Mrs. Paul Loewen and children while Mr. Loewen is in Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Franz spent a week vacationing in the Black Hills, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Miss Elva Suderman of Hillsboro, who has been attending the Brown Mackie School of Business, has accepted a position with Mennonite Publishing Company in Hillsboro.
