Delton Wiens of Lowry AFB near Denver came early Saturday morning and is spending the Thanksgiving holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Wiens.

Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Funk left Monday by train for California where they will spend about six weeks with their children in Dinuba and Reedley.

Mrs. Wesley Loewen was honored with an informal shower at her home Thursday evening. The evening was spent in reading poetry and playing games.

The Ebel family will have their Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ebel and family. Guests will be Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Riffel and daughter of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Burl Lee and family of Wichita, Mrs. Walter Kneisel and daughter of Kansas City, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Vic Ebel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ebel and family and Edgar Ebel.

The local P.T.A. met Tuesday evening in the grade school auditorium. Mrs. Herb Scharping read the devotions, and Mr. Pete Dalke led in general singing. Mrs. H.F. Janzen, president, presided at the business meeting. Mr. Jake Klassen led a panel discussion on "Recreation of Youth." Those taking part were Mr. Arthur Balzer, Mrs. Ray Cornelsen, Mrs. P.E. Schellenberg, Rev. V.J. Boehringer, Mr. Robert Dalke, and Mr. Arnold Vogt.

Durham High School has 23 boys working hard for the basketball team. Of the 23 boys, three are seniors, eight juniors, eight sophomores and four are freshmen. This is one of the largest squads Durham High School has had for several years. Only four lettermen return from last year's team.
