The Mentor Study Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Jac. Bartel. The topic of the evening was veterans. Mrs. Orville Jost gave a brief history the Veterans' Administration.
The Hillsboro Study Club will meet Nov. 8 in the home of Mrs. Arthur Balzer, with Mrs. H.B. Kliewer as assistant hostess. The theme of the evening will be Home Economics.
Larry and Jerry Dalke were honored on their ninth birthday Oct. 29. Guests who attended were Bobby and Larry Arnold, Jerold Vogt, Larry E. Hiebert, Dale Jost, Jay Donovan Jost, Donald Dahl, Frankie Edward, and Robert Peters.
The Springfield School District 80 in Marion County is planning a final homecoming for Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the Springfield church. Chairman of preparations, David V. Wiebe, announces that all former teachers, pupils, and patrons of the district are invited to come "home" once more, since the school has been consolidated with another school.
Fred Hall has been elected governor of Kansas. His lieutenant-governor is John McCuish, a prominent newspaper man and a former owner of the Hillsboro Star.
