Lloyd Funk, son of John J. Funk, has been recommended for the Sate Farmer Degree by the State FFA Executive Committee. The State Farmer Degree is the state's highest FFA degree. Lloyd's FFA farm project consists of 30 sheep, 24 pigs, 10 acres of corn, six acres of pasture, and five acres of wheat.

Wednesday afternoon the School Board of District 82 opened the bids of the various contractors submitted on the building, heating and electric wiring. The low bid for the building was Busbom and Rauh of Salina who bid $118,000.

The Lost Horizon, the dramatic story of Shangri-La, will be brought to life by the HHS senior class Thursday and Friday in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available from any senior or may be purchased at the door. Prices are 60 cents for adults, 35 cents for students, and 25 cents for grade school students.

Mrs. Victor Herbel entertained the following at a birthday party for Dennis Herbel on his seventh birthday Thursday afternoon: Terry, Cynthia and Janis Washmon, Kristine Heinrichs, Rosemary Pankratz, Rosemary and Diana Pschigoda, Jennifer Schultz, Stanley Scharping, Cecil Wenger, Ronald Herbel, and the honored guest.

Dr. and Mrs. A.C. Eitzen and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Jost spent Sunday in Kansas City.
