Miraculously escaping serious injury or death, Phillip Janzen, 21, son of Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Janzen, Hillsboro, was able to walk away from the completely wrecked 1955 Ford he was driving. Janzen was fortunately thrown out, otherwise he would probably have been electrocuted or killed out-right of injuries.
The Christian Leader, one of the official publications of the Mennonite Brethren Conference produced by the local Mennonite Brethren Publishing House was accorded a high honor last week at the annual Evangelical Press Association Convention in Chicago when it received the top award for having made the greatest improvements in 1954. Rev. Orlando Harms, editor, attended the convention and received the award which consisted of an engraved gold plaque mounted on a walnut base.
Harold Regier, superintendent of Hillsboro public schools for the last eight and one half years has tendered his resignation from that position effective at the close of the current school year. Regier's future plans are for a year of study at Kansas University where he has been accepted as a candidate for a degree as "Doctor of Education."
The Tabor Bluejays went to work last Friday night at the high school gym to defeat St. Mary's of the Plains of Dodge City, 76-63 in a Mid — Kansas conference game. Tabor led throughout the game holding a 33-20 half-time lead.
Coach George Buhr and his Lehigh Eagles bounced back on Tuesday evening at Lehigh to edge the NMCL champions, Durham Hi 57-55. Durham defeated Lehigh in the league tournament finals last Saturday night. Lehigh remains on top of the league undefeated while Durham has lost only two games, those to Lehigh.
