Excavation for the foundation of a new fair building located at the corner of Ash and A streets was started Monday afternoon, under the supervision of Glenn Pestinger who was the successful bidder on the construction. The building is located on the ground purchased from the M.J. Hein estate and part of the ground recently purchased from Frank Wedel.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haak and Cpl. Tommy Boyd drive to Hutchinson Sunday to visit Mrs. Floyd Eilerts who is a patient in Grace Hospital. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Plenert and sons.

Rev. and Mrs. J.C. Grunau had as their Sunday dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Leon Suderman and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Suderman and Ruby June were afternoon guests.

Serving aboard the destroyer USS John A. Bole is Harold L. Smith, seaman apprentice USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Smith of Hillsboro. Smith, who enlisted in the Navy Nov. 27, 1951, received his recruit training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, Calif.

Mrs. Anna Pankratz received injuries to both her hands Monday morning while helping Mrs. A.U. Groening with washing. Mrs. Pankratz in some manner got both her hands in the wringer and in the excitement tried to pull the left hand out and the little finger and the next one had the skin and flesh torn from them. The right hand was not badly injured.

Cpl. Roy Pyle, Jr., arrived in Wichita Saturday after 10 months of active service in Korea with the first tank battalion First Marion Division. He is the husband of the former Della Goossen.
