Roland Plenert who has been in Korea for 18 months arrived home Friday.

Jack Vogt left early Monday morning for Copeland where he will work in the harvest. Charles Abrahams went to Copeland last week to work in the harvest

Kay Wohlgemuth left Saturday by train for Grenola where she will visit her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilmeth and Bruce. She will return to Hillsboro next weekend with the Wilmeths.

Mrs. Walter Ebel and children of Chugwater, Wyo., and Miss Shirley Hiebert arrived in Hillsboro early Sunday morning. Mrs. Ebel and children will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Matz, for three weeks.

C.C. Rice of Liberty Township has announced his candidacy for the nomination of superintendent of public instruction on the Democratic ticket. He has been a teacher in the Marion County schools for the past 15 years. For the last six years he has been the principal of Hillsboro Elementary School.

More than 100 4-H members and adults took part in the first district judging school held at Hillsboro. Lloyd Funk of Hillsboro placed first. The Marion County team of Virgil Funk, Loren Funk and Lloyd Funk placed first.

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon L. Heidel are the parents of a daughter, Sidney Lynn, born June 13 at the Herington Hospital. Mrs. Heidel is the former Doris Jost and is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed F. Jost, while her husband is in the service in Korea.

Dr. and Mrs. Franklin Harms and Linda Jean are planning to spend this week in Colorado.
