C.P. Ashcraft of Hillsboro has been appointed to serve on the Tourists Promotion Council of the Kansas State Chamber of Commerce.

Andrew H. Schmidt spent Tuesday in Topeka where he attended a DeKalb Research school.

Saturday night when the fire trucks were called out for a truck fire on the highway, a 100 or more cars followed from town and completely blocked the highway for several blocks before officers could get on the scene and stop the traffic. On top of all the congestion, someone who had proceeded several blocks toward the fire suddenly decided to back up and backed down the crowded highway at 20 to 25 miles per hour.

Sunday, July 26, and Monday, July 27, were momentous days. At 7 p.m. Sunday the Armistice in Korea was signed, and Monday at 7 a.m. the shooting stopped. Thirty-seven months of undeclared war came to a close.
