The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of meeting at the Boy Scout cabin in Memorial Park Tuesday evening for their regular monthly meeting. The cabin was one of the Chamber's projects and the members had the opportunity to inspect it.
The eight members of the Hillsboro High School journalism class along with their instructor, Malinda Penner, visited the Star-Journal Wednesday morning, March 2. The group followed the beginning of a newspaper to its completed form on the printed page with Mr. Bruce explaining the various routes and motions necessary to turn out a newspaper.
Leslie O. Sperling, band and orchestra director in Hillsboro schools this year, has resigned that position to accept a similar one in the McPherson city schools. Mr. and Mrs. Sperling and family came to Hillsboro last fall from Inman, where he had been band director for seven years.
The Star Café, for the past seven months leased by Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Foth, will go under new management March 14. Mrs. Adolph Plenert will operate the café when it opens Monday and will be assisted by Mr. Theo. Funk.
The board of education of Hillsboro public schools has announced the hiring of Mr. Nick A. Klaassen as principal of the high school for the next school year. Mr. Klaassen comes from Mountain Lake, Minnesota, where he has taught ten years, the last six of which he has been high school principal.
