A week ago today, spring seemed firmly entrenched in Kansas, but under cover of night, Old Man Winter roared in for what is hoped his final blow. And he did it with a furious flourish leaving a snow fall of probably five or six inches. Some 12 motorists sought refuge here around midnight on Thursday. And Art Funk, officer on duty, was so hard pressed to find beds for them all that the jail was even used for that purpose, in addition to private homes including his own.
A new business firm along Hillsboro's Main Street was created and located this week, as Ray Cornelsen moved into the building at 103 South Main. The new firm will be known as the Hillsboro Finance and Insurance Co.
Dr. Franklin Harms of Hillsboro has been chosen by the members of his profession to present a lecture on "Plus Factors In Optometry" at their 55th annual Kansas Optometric Association's Convention and Seminar to be held at Hutchinson, Kansas, April 4, 5, and 6.
