Miss Martha Willems, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Willems, left Monday of last week for New York City where she will embark for Africa to serve as a missionary to Africa. Many of her relatives and friends of Hillsboro went to Newton to bid her goodbye.
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Reiswig and Katherine and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Herbel drove to Augusta Sunday where they attended church services and then went on to Arkansas City to attend the wedding of their niece, Thelma Lee Reiswig, to Mr. Cecil George Denton of Denton.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Seibel and Norman returned Friday from a week's vacation in Hartzel, Colo.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Funk, Mrs. Ella Warkentin and Ina attended a family reunion at Bethel College Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Hiebert and Larry spent Sunday in Wichita with her mother, Mrs. G. A. Sizemore.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Beltz and children went to Corn, Okla., Saturday to spend the weekend with her mother, Mrs. J.G. Richert, and with her brothers and sisters. They returned Monday night.
Mr. Wm. Tappen returned to Hillsboro Tuesday morning after spending Labor Day with his family in Kansas City. Mr. Tappen is a senior student in the University of Kansas School of Medicine and is serving a six-week preceptorship under Dr. H.F. Janzen.
Nineteen guests were present at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Seibel Aug. 29 to celebrate the tenth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Seibel and the Aug. 29 birthdays of Mr. Ed Suderman and Wallace Seibel.
Miss Wanda Franzen returned to Emporia Sunday where she is a kindergarten teacher in the Emporia schools.
