Roy Flaming, Hillsboro's second Korean War casualty, husband of Lois Knaak Flaming and the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Flaming, was laid to rest in the First Mennonite cemetery east of town Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Richter helped their children, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Blankley, with their butchering last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Berg and girls and Mrs. Julia Berg and Miss Margaret Richert were New Year's Day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Berg and Vera.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Funk and Jim and Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Pankratz, Farol and Stuart were dinner guests New Year's night of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Funk and children.
Light superintendent Rollind Olson deserves a lot of credit for the way the streets of Hillsboro were decorated for the Christmas season. He worked with the chamber of commerce decoration committee. He and his men had the city light plant grounds and shrubbery lit up.
Miss Ella Meier assumed duties as kindergarten teacher in the Hillsboro Public Schools on Jan. 2. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mrs. Vera Kliewer.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cornelsen and children returned from Lincoln, Neb., where they had spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Voth.
