At the meeting of the Hillsboro City Council Tuesday evening, the proposed bond election on the construction of a swimming pool in Memorial Air Park occupied most of the conference time. Meeting with the council were two consulting engineers, Pascal Padock of Oklahoma City and R. B. Reeves of Chanute.
An early entry for the Marion County Fair that fair officials hadn't counted on was made Wednesday morning when a big Nash-Finch semi-trailer crashed through the east wall of the white fair barn on South Ash.
Lt. Richard Franz, son of Mr. and Mr. J. E. Franz of Hillsboro, arrived home Saturday after spending a year in Korea. Lt. Franz will spend the 30-day leave with his parents, after which he will be assigned to the Norton Air Force Base near San Berdino, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mohn and Carolyn were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Wren Pschigoda at Elmo.
Charles Krotz is visiting at the Frank Krotz home in Durham this week.
Cherly Goertz came home from Wichita Thursday, where she has been hospitalized since July 2.
Enrollment at Lehigh High School is to be Aug. 30. Classes will meet on Friday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 - 10 a.m. Rev. E.F. Markley, pastor of the Canton Methodist Church, will give the school opening address on Sunday evening.
