The Hillsboro High School 1953 football season will get under way Friday night when the Trojans meet the Buhler Crusaders on the local field. Coach Jack Sharp, together with his assistants, Elmer Buhler and Arthur Balzer, has been working hard to get his team in shape for the opening tilt.
Lloyd Klassen is enrolled at Bethel College.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Schmidt left Sept. 7 for Manhattan where he is enrolled as a sophomore.
Janet Regier, who is attending Wichita University this fall, spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Regier.
On Sunday, Sept. 6, Mr. and Mrs. Pete A. Ratzlaff of Hillsboro held an open house to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. They were married at Hillsboro Sept. 9, 1903.
Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Christensen, formerly of Hillsboro, now of McPherson, were pleasantly surprised with a dinner in the Blue Room of the Warren Hotel in McPherson Saturday evening in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Penner came home Friday evening from a three-week vacation in Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Scharping returned home Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Toews and family were Sunday dinner and luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Funk.
Miss Lois Weber has resigned her position at the Vogt Grocery and is now working in the First National Bank. She will replace Miss Vera David who quit her work at the bank last September.
Gary Herbel left Saturday for Wichita where he will attend Wichita University this fall.
