Wayne Wiens, Hillsboro High School student and member of the Hillsboro chapter of Future Farmers of America, was one of five Kansas FFA'ers selected to play with the 100-piece national FFA band during the 25th annual national convention of FFA Oct. 13-15 in Kansas City, Mo.
Shirley Funk, Wendell Wiens, and Maynard Janzen of Hillsboro and Jim Banman of Lehigh were selected for the Bethel College a capella choir.
Miss Malinda Suderman was a guest of Mrs. Frank Penner Saturday evening. Mrs. J.F. Penner was a Sunday luncheon guest.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kliewer and Miss Linda Friesen were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Penner and family.
Bertha, Bill, and Isaac Harms moved last week to the house at 412 E. Second Street. The Harms property on S. Main will be the site for the new hospital.
Mr. Wm. Schaeffler and Bob Schaeffler were dinner guests last Tuesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Ebel in honor of Mr. Schaeffler's 92nd birthday. Later in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Schaeffler called from Pittsburg, Pa., to wish him a happy birthday.
Jim Funk of Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi arrived home Wednesday for a short leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Funk. Jim has been transferred to the Air Base at Salina.
