The 35th annual Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair has successfully come and gone.

This year more than 800 vendors applied to be in the fair and 378 were selected. After last minute cancellations, 365 artisans and craftsmen participated in the show.

This was the third year vendors could set up Friday evening. All agreed everything went smoothly. The streets were cleared by 6 p.m., and street marking was completed in good time. Thanks to all the business owners and community members for their support and cooperation.

According to Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning attendance was between 40,000 and 50,000. "I think the numbers were up this year from the traffic we had," said Kinning.

Twenty-eight local individuals and organizations had concession booths at the fair. Some booths reported lower sales, but some, like the Kiwanis, reported earnings similar to last year.

There are some things that need work for next year's fair. There's always room for improvement. But according to Chamber of Commerce Director Megan Kilgore, "The fair went off without a hitch."
