A personal request

Everyone who's ever corresponded with me via letter or e-mail message knows one thing: I can ramble.

I may not be much of a talker — in fact, most social situations find me struggling for the "small talk" that comes so easily to most people — but I have no problem when it comes to the written word.

So I make a conscious effort when I come to work every day not to ramble, determined not to bore you with wordy editorials that tell you what you could care less about.

But every once in awhile, you gotta break your own rules.

Here's the deal: I'm looking for a place to live in Hillsboro, and I need your help.

I've been searching pretty seriously for the past six months, and I've yet to find a place. So I'm asking you for help, faithful Star-Journal subscribers. Can you help me find a place to live?

I don't need very much space — a small house or apartment, preferably with two bedrooms, although one would be fine too.

I'm a good tenant — no crazy parties, no loud music. The closest I get to disturbing neighbors might be a laughing fit during my nightly viewing of "Who's Line is it Anyway?" I don't have kids, don't smoke, don't drink — just about as boring as they come.

I don't ask much — just a clean place that doesn't have cracks in the ceiling and walls and siding falling off the front of the building.

One thing that may give a landlord pause is my cat — but he's harmless. He's very clean, declawed, and spends much of his life sleeping on the bed. (If only the rest of us had such a life.)

Do you have a house for rent? Do you have a friend who's a landlord who might have something? Call me! I'd appreciate any tips.

I'm ready. I know how to drive the moving truck. I've got free labor to lift the couch (aka, my dad and brother).

All I need is the home. Can you help?
