Finding information about how Hillsboro schools stack up against other schools in the state of Kansas is as simple as tapping your computer's mouse button.

Hillsboro principals Evan Yoder, Corey Burton, and Dale Honeck spoke to members of the board of education Monday night about the Kansas State Department of Education's website and its accessibility to the public.

"Anyone can access this website," Yoder told the board.

The Kansas School Building Report Card presents information about schools across Kansas.

The information provided on the website is reported in three ways: by school building, by school district and as a state average.

Among the data provided, the web browser can find performance results on state assessments, attendance rates, graduation and dropout rates, performance toward adequate yearly progress goals, and information on school safety and teacher qualifications.

According to Dr. Andy Tompkins, Commissioner of Education, the information provided on the website is to help people "gauge the performance of Kansas schools and school districts."

Among the new features found on the report card is a link to compare school performance.

The link to similar schools allows you to compare the performance of schools with similar characteristics.
