Accidents
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Kyle D. Funk, 22, 686 29th Ave., Canton, was eastbound on K-215 at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 8. Funk, driving a 1972 Chevrolet S10, stopped at the stop sign, then pulled out and struck the left side of a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Alan Wayne Robinson, 44, Wichita. Robinson's vehicle is owned by Janice Martin of Wichita. She also was a passenger in the car. Both Robinson and Martin were taken by Hillsboro Ambulance to Newton Medical Center, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.
Caressa D. Katz, 27, Kingsley, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 just north of K-150 at 5:22 p.m. Nov. 14 when a deer came from the east ditch and was hit. Katz was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. Jimmy H. Katz, 24, Kingsley, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
Timmy A. Howell of 204 S. Birch, Hillsboro, had parked his 1990 Ford Ranger, belonging to Diana K. Howell of the home, in a ditch at 170th and Alamo. At 9:30 a.m. Nov. 8, Randolph Flaming, 75, 404 E. Marion, Goessel, was driving a 6195 tractor pulling a farm implement. The equipment struck the side of Howell's vehicle. Flaming left the scene of the accident. He was not injured, reports Deputy Starkey.
Nicolas Kraus, 23, 2363 U.S.-150, Marion, was westbound on K-256 just east of Upland at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 9 when a deer came from the north ditch and was struck by the 1996 Dodge Stratus Kraus was driving. Kraus was not injured, reports Deputy Starkey.
Kelly J. Cook, 34, 214 W. Division, Peabody, was westbound on U.S.-50 at 6:20 p.m. Nov. 13. Cook, driving a 1997 International Harvester 4900 belonging to Fourth Fire District of Marion County, struck a deer standing in the road. Cook was not injured reports Officer J. Philpott.
Timothy J. Svoboda, 37, 417 Main, Tampa, was northbound on Limestone just south of 310th at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 10 when a black cow entered the roadway. Svoboda, driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee was unable to avoid hitting the cow belonging to Paul Backhus, 425 Roosevelt, Tampa. Svoboda was not injured, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.
Todd D. Jost, 39, 311 W. Main, Lehigh, was southbound on K-168 just north of U.S.-56 at 9:10 a.m. Nov. 9. Jost, driving a 1993 Dodge Intrepid, went off the roadway into the west ditch. Jost was unable to re-enter the roadway and struck the ditch embankment. Passengers in the vehicle were Wendy L. Jost, 41, Sonja L. Jost, 3, and Franklin D. Jost, 5, all of the home. No one was injured, reports Deputy Schmidt.
