Accidents
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Timothy G. Bentz, 45, 423 Walnut, Marion, was northbound at 5:57 a.m. July 30 on K-256, north of 190th Road, when a deer ran from an east ditch in front of the 1995 Ford F-150 pickup he was driving. Bentz could not avoid hitting the deer, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Dena L. Bowman, 43, 2026 X Ranch, Lincolnville, was westbound at 9:32 a.m. July 31 in a 1993 Ford passenger car at the intersection of Xavier and 260th when she entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by Lloyd O. Meier, 61, 202 Grant Street, Marion, who was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup. Kaylee Jones, 4, Salina, was a passenger in the Bowman vehicle and was transported by LifeTeam helicopter to Wesley Medical Center. Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez reported there were no other injuries.
Donald J. Richmond, 46, 400 S. Fourth Street, Marion, was northbound on Timber Road near 180th at 10:18 p.m. Aug. 1, when his vehicle, a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, missed a turn at 180th and went into a north ditch, striking a road sign, wagon, and several other yard ornaments. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported sheriff deputy Josh Whitwell.
