Adams, Bartow wed in Hillsboro

Kara M. Adams of Hillsboro and Richard T. Bartow of Nixa, Mo., were married Dec. 29, 2001, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Rankin, Southwestern College campus minister, officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Lyman and Marie Adams of Hillsboro. The groom is the son of Dick and Nancy Bartow of Nixa, Mo.

The bride wore a white off-the-shoulder A-line gown of matte satin and Battenburg lace. The gown featured a chapel-length train with lace embellishments of scalloped poinsettia flowers. She carried a bouquet of white roses, pink bovardia, spray roses and freesia in a gentle symmetrical cascade.

Maid of honor was Arvilla Bennett of Wellington. Bridesmaids were Lisa Reynolds of Wellington; Heather Lengerich of Craig, Colo.; Kristy Adams of Iola, sister-in-law of the bride; Cara Bartow, Nixa, Mo., sister of the groom; and Megan Anderson of Lawrence, cousin of the bride.

Best man was Kevin Bartow of Nixa, Mo., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Josh Smith of Tulsa, Okla.; Jacob Tuttle of Cushing, Okla.; Kyle Adams of Iola, brother of the bride; and Kane Adams of Hillsboro, brother of the bride.

Candlelighters were Jennifer Mohn and Amy Pschigoda, both of Hillsboro. Flower girls were Grace Bagby of Blue Springs, Mo., cousin of the bride. Ring bearer was Daniel Bagby of Blue Springs, Mo., cousin of the bride.

Ushers were Branden Banks of Herington; Trent Bartow of Austin, Texas, cousin of the groom; Nicklaus Moss of Springfield, Mo., cousin of the groom; Ryan Rusco of Argonia; and Erik Anderson of Lawrence, cousin of the bride.

The ceremony coordinator was Sharon Dies of Lehigh. The bride's personal attendant was Hannah Leach of Romsey, United Kingdom. Celebration attendants were Hayley, Carter and Graham Pankratz of Hillsboro.

Guest book attendants were Vessa Cartmill of Baton Rouge, La., and Ruth Ruggles of Winfield. Gift carriers were Peter Ruggles, Steve and Veva Ruggles, all of Winfield.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the Hillsboro American Legion. Larry and Nancy Cartmill of Harrisonville, Mo., uncle and aunt of the bride, and Norman and Susan Rasa of Lexington, Mo., uncle and aunt of the groom, hosted the reception. Reception attendants were Jill Anderson of Lawrence, aunt of the bride; Eileen Butler of Hillsboro; Andrew Dies of Lehigh; Sarah Donahue of Hillsboro; Mindy Duerksen of Hillsboro; and Carlene Nickel of Hillsboro.

After a honeymoon trip to Cozumel, Mexico. The couple are home in Lawrence.

The bride, a 1998 graduate of Hillsboro High School, is a senior at Southwestern College in Winfield and is student teaching at Deerfield Elementary School in Lawrence.

The groom, a 1997 graduate of Nixa, Mo., High School, is a 2001 graduate of Southwestern College and is attending Washburn University School of Law.
