Adult district defined
Hillsboro City Council will consider the adoption of an adult entertainment (AE) district.
The district will restrict the location of an adult business due to zoning restrictions.
Definitions of adult entertainment are escort agency, adult book or video store, adult entertainment establishment, and adult novelty store.
All lots in the AE district shall have not less than 7,000 square feet in area with an average width of not less than 50 feet.
No building shall exceed 35 feet in height.
A 25-foot front and rear yard, and 10-foot side yard setback will be required.
Advertising signs shall have no more than two display surfaces. Signs shall not contain any flashing lights, shall not exceed seven feet in height and length, 49 square feet if a wall sign, or 25 square feet if other than a wall sign.
The sign shall be a flat plane, rectangular shape with no photographs, silhouettes, etc. Each letter forming a word shall be of a solid color.
Building signs shall have one display surface, not to exceed nine square feet, and can be affixed or attached to any wall or door of the establishment.
Parking regulations require one off-street parking space per two seats or seating spaces, or one off-street parking space per 100 square feet of floor space.
No adult use business or establishment will be allowed within 1,000 feet of any residential zoning district, residence, church, day-care facility, park, educational institution, library, museum, community center, playground, or swimming pool.
It also would be prohibited within 1,000 feet of any other adult business.
No more than one adult business shall be conducted within any building or structure containing the adult business. No adult-oriented business shall be operated between 11:30 p.m. and 8 a.m.
