Alex E. Herbel
Alex E. Herbel, 36, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Oct. 29, 2003, at his home in Colorado.
He was born in Hillsboro, the son of Don and Emma Jean Herbel.
He attended school in Hillsboro and graduated in 1985.
He attended Aims Community College in Greeley, Colo., and Denver Technical Institute in Denver, Colo.
After graduation, he went work in San Jose, Calif., as a technician for Acuson. After many years of being employed with KLA-Tencor, he was transferred to the Colorado Springs Division in 2001 and was an on-site technical support for Intel. He was a senior technician for KLA-Tencor in Colorado Springs.
He loved computers, liked to hunt, play pool, spend time with his family, and liked his Corvette. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football team.
Survivors include his mother, Emma Jean Herbel of Hillsboro; father, Don Herbel and stepmother, Marla of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister, Dr. Gayla Herbel of Loveland, Colo.; brother, David Herbel of Reno, Nev.; sister, Barbara Conquest of Marietta, Okla., brother, Glen Herbel of Highland Ranch, Colo.; sister, Greta Slade of Aurora, Colo.; stepbrothers, Jeff Young of Jacksonville, N.C., and Troy Young of Greeley, Colo.; and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro Nov. 3 with Rev. Clark Davis officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery in Hillsboro.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
