Alice F. Geyer
Alice F. Geyer, 91, of WaKenney, died June 5, 2005, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.
Born July 31, 1913, on the family homestead in Kearny County, she was the daughter of John Wesley and Anna (DeVries) Grusing. On May 15, 1941, she married Virgil L. Geyer. He died Aug. 13, 1999.
She was a teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Trego County Historical Society, and past member of Locust Club, all in WaKeeney. She also was a member of HDU Pleasant Valley Homemakers.
She attended rural Kearney schools, graduated from Lakin High School in 1931, and received teaching certification from Fort Hays University.
Survivors include sons, Galen and wife Angela from WaKeeney and Merle and wife Freda from Lawrence; daughters, Carolyn Garbo and husband Sam of Hillsboro and Leila Geyer of Lincoln; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Litton of Lakin and Clara Warrington of Kendall; and sister-in-laws, Mabel Grusing of Lakin and Vandella Grusing of Leoti.
Services were held June 9 at First United Methodist Church in WaKenney with Pastor Deb Harvey officiating. Burial was at WaKeeney City Cemetery in WaKenney.
Memorials have been established with Trego County Historical Society or First United Methodist Church.
