Amanda Woelk to participate in program in Washington DC
Amanda Woelk, a student at Goessel High School, will attend the first Presidential Classroom Law and Justice in a Democracy program from March 9 to 16 in Washington, D.C.
The nation's leading civic education program, Presidential Classroom provides students an in-depth look at the federal legal system and how the federal government as a whole operates.
The week's activities will include a Supreme Court briefing, visits to the Federal Bureau of Investigation or Secret Service, and foreign embassy briefings. Other program highlights include visiting senators and representatives' offices from the students' state, observing congressional hearings, and touring the White House.
Woelk's future plans include becoming an attorney.
"This opportunity would give me a chance to see how the justice system works," Woelk said.
She would appreciate any donations that would make this opportunity possible.
Patrons may send donations to: Crossroads Federal Credit Union, Goessel, KS 67053.
