Ammeter news: Opening day brings hunters to Ammeter farm

Blaine Ammeter of Ellinwood arrived Friday at the Ammeter farm to spend the weekend and do some hunting. Bryan Ammeter and Todd Ammeter of Manhattan joined him later in the evening. Stan Ammeter was a supper guest.

The hunters gathered at the Ammeter farm early Saturday morning to open hunting season. Ty Frederickson, John Boise, Bob Hartnagel, and Michele Montgomery joined Todd, Bryan, Blaine, and Stan. They all were late lunch guests of LaVonne.

Sunday dinner guests of LaVonne after a morning of hunting were Blaine, Todd and B.J., John Boise, and a friend Shadi from Wichita. Later the boys went back to Manhattan. Blaine returned home in the evening.

Ladies Aid met Wednesday afternoon at LaVonne's. Attending were Sherry Nightengale, Maude Gaines, Dorene Kirkpatrick, Michele Boise, and Dylan. Later Carolyn Metz and Becky Holm of Wichita were supper guests.

Michele Boise and Dylan decorated cakes Thursday at LaVonne's.

Thursday visitors of Maude Gaines were her brother and sisters: Norma and LeRoy Riggs of Marion, Sherry and Marvin Nightengale, Ike and Marie Clark, Margaret Matz, and Joyce Barker of Wichita. They all ate lunch at Burns and returned to Maude's to spend the afternoon visiting.

Ty, Marcie, and Giles Frederickson visited LaVonne Friday morning. Giles came to see the cows and play on the hay bales. Maude Gaines and LaVonne were in Peabody Friday afternoon.

Saturday visitors of Maude Gaines were Ronnie Gaines, Dusty Gaines of Wichita, Sally and Jim Abel, Vickie, Dick, Cory, William, and Allison Gantz, Kim, Kevin, Trent, and Hayden Robb, all of Perry, Jean Ann Gaines of Holton, Shelly Harper of Inman, Ben Harper of Manhattan, Zack Harper of Lawrence, and Troy and Sarah Harper and Hannah of Topeka.

The men spent the day hunting and on Sunday all were dinner guests of Herb and Melinda Gaines of rural Cassoday. Kim Gaines of Madison and Patti Gaines joined the crowd.

Ladies Aid met at LaVonne's Wednesday afternoon. Those attending were Maude Gaines, Sherry Nightengale, Dorene Kirkpatrick, Michele Boise, and Dylan.

We extend our sympathy and prayers to the Hilliard family in the loss of their mother, Ernestine. She will be missed. She was such a lovely lady.
