Anita Lehman to display artwork at Bethel College

Bethel College will host an art exhibition of mixed media works by Anita Lehman, Feb. 4 through 25 in the Fine Arts Center gallery on the North Newton campus. Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public.

Quoting James Baldwin, Lehman says, "The purpose of art is to lay bare the questions which have been hidden in the answers." She explains that she hopes viewers of her works "will experience, if only for a moment, a sense of recognition, a connection or an answer turned into a question."

Lehman's show will exhibit works in mixed media on canvas.

Lehman took undergraduate courses at Bethel College and Wichita State University before earning her bachelor of fine arts degree from Bluffton College (now University) in Bluffton, Ohio, and her master of fine arts degree in ceramics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Lehman has taught ceramics at Tabor College and is currently an art teacher for Lima City Schools. A former Newton resident, Lehman now resides in Bluffton.

A reception for the artist will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday in the Fine Arts Center gallery.

The Bethel College Fine Arts Center gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m.
