Anna Esau

Anna Marie Esau, 95, died July 29, 2003.

Born Jan. 1, 1908, at Lehigh, she was the daughter of Jacob and Marie Barkman.

She was reared in a Christian home and gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 12. Upon her confession of her faith, she was baptized into the Gnadenau Mennonite Church in August of 1920.

On April 21, 1931, at Hillsboro, she married Henry G. Esau. They were baptized together into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on Dec. 22, 1945, at the Alexanderfeld congregation.

From 1931 until 1942, they lived in Littlefield, Texas, where they farmed. In 1942 they moved to Lehigh. In 1951 the family moved to Winton, Calif., where she lived until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband and daughters, Clara and Mary Ann.

Survivors include sons, Donald Roy, John Henry, Raymond James, and Herbert Gene; daughter, Katherine Esther; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
