Friends helping Betty Mueller celebrate her birthday with coffee and rolls at the café Monday morning were Agnes Steinert of Hillsboro, Joyce Medley of Durham, Lucille Kerbs, Lola Teetzen, Maxine Mueller, Edna Mueller, Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt. Lois Sklenar and Elaine Backhus were unable to attend.
Lisa Hanschu attended a nail show in Wichita Saturday and Sunday. James and Anna Weber stayed with their grandparents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, while their mother was gone.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a celebration in McPherson Sunday afternoon honoring Father Paul Oborny for 40 years in the priesthood.
Leona Kleiber was a Sunday evening supper guest of Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea and Nicholas.
Greg Sklenar of Wichita visited Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton Sunday.
Tillie Hein, Eleanor Murphy, Helen Schwartzman and Martha Melcher attended the card party at Herington Sunday evening.
Jim and Mary Clemmer took dinner to the home of Commodore and Adeline Wood of Emporia Sunday in celebration of Adeline's birthday. The Woods' son, Bill Wood of Peoria, Ill., was also present. In the afternoon the Clemmers attended a Golden Wedding reception for their schoolmates, Maynard and Virginia Kusmall.
Art and Betty Mueller and David Mueller met Susan and John Harris and children of Chapman and Lola and Jack Ware and Duane and Debbie Blythe and family of White City in Junction City on Sunday. All enjoyed dinner out in celebration of Betty's birthday.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor in Marion Sunday afternoon.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika, James and Anna Weber and Lori and Tom Moldenhauer attended a reunion of the descendants of Fred and Mary Schneider Sunday in Herington.
Leroy Schwartzman of Ballwin, Mo., arrived here Saturday evening to spend some time with his mother, Helen Schwartzman.
Jim and Mary Clemmer received a phone call Saturday evening from their grandson, LCpl. Charlie Clemmer, who has just returned to the states after a tour of duty in Iraq. This was their first conversation with him in ten months. Before being sent back to the United States, Clemmer had an opportunity to do some sightseeing including the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the "handwriting on the wall" mentioned in the book of Daniel. He expected to be home on leave very soon.
Tillie Hein and Kris Srajer and Cole went to Hillsboro Saturday morning. After spending some time at the Arts and Crafts Fair and enjoying lunch out, they went on to Marion, where they met Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Nebr., and spent some time at Art in the Park. Donald and Carolyn had come to Kansas for Donald's alumni reunion at Emporia State University.
Claudette Spohn and Lauren spent Saturday visiting Gary and Carole Spohn, and the women attended the Arts and Crafts Fair at Hillsboro. In the evening Gary, Carole and Georgia Spohn followed her to Manhattan, where they joined Steve Spohn of Hope and Ryan Spohn and Adam for a cookout at Ryan and Claudette's home. The occasion was a celebration of Georgia's and Steve's birthdays.
Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and James and Anna Weber attended Art in the Park in Marion and the Arts and Crafts Fair in Hillsboro on Saturday.
Kathy Hubbard of Wellington met her mother, Adeline Bernhardt, at Marion Saturday. They attended Art in the Park and enjoyed lunch together. Kathy went on to Hillsboro for the Arts and Crafts Fair.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs visited Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor in Abilene Friday. Lucille returned on Saturday for a garage sale.
Enid Albrecht of Wichita visited her sister, Georgia Spohn, Friday and took her out to eat in celebration of her birthday.
Jim and Grant Srajer attended the football game at Kansas State University in Manhattan Saturday.
Leona Kleiber and Ruby Vinduska accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to Salina Tuesday, Sept. 16, for the Senior Fair Garden Party. Other Tampa senior citizens attending were Magdalen Dvorak and Margaret Jirak, who was Marion County's representative at the event.
Tom and Dee Duggan spent a week with Pat and Gene Westerhaus of Flagstaff, Ariz., Sept. 8-15. They went to Sedona, the Grand Canyon and other sights. Before flying out of Kansas City, they spent a couple of days with Darla Hall and Adam of Lee's Summit, Mo.
Evelyn Strecker visited her sister, Helen Schwartzman, Tuesday morning, Sept. 9.
Recent visitors of Art and Betty Mueller were Ralph and Joanne Scally of Preston, Ariz. Joanne is Betty's cousin and the daughter of Dave Schwemmer, formerly from this area.
Gary and Carole Spohn took Georgia Spohn to the Rolling Hills Zoo near Salina Monday, Sept. 15, as an early celebration of her birthday.
