Arlene Wiens

Arlene E. Wiens, 68, died Nov. 23, 2004, at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

Born Feb. 19, 1936, in Goessel, she was the daughter of Gustav and Martha (Nickel) Klassen. She was baptized May 27, 1950.

On Sept. 15, 1955, she married Stanley Ray Wiens at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

She attended Godon Grade School and Goessel High School.

She was a was a member of the Goessel Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, sponsored the youth group, and played piano for services.

She worked as a baker for a restaurant and as a receptionist at Bethesda Home. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

She was preceded in death by brothers, LeRoy Klassen and Dwane Klassen.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Donna Oswald of Olathe and Marla Wiens of Topeka; sons, Dale Wiens of Goessel and James Wiens of Little River; sister, Alice Jantz of Hesston; brother, Harold Klassen of Hesston; seven grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.

A private burial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Goessel Mennonite Church Cemetery. Memorial service was Saturday at Goessel Mennonite Church with Pastor Kevin Goertzen officiating.

Memorial funds have been established with Bethesda Home and Central Homecare and Hospice.
